PRE-SCREENING INTERVIEW

The aim of this interview is to offer to the operators involved in the experimental phase of the Embrace Project a tool for the requirements and language check of the candidate. Moreover and very important, this interview sample also want to assess if the candidate collected enough/proper work/school/general fields of activity experiences that allow the operator to put the certification path on onset.

As stated before, candidates in order to be able to be included in the process must meet the following requirements:

Must be adults (18 years old or more)

Must have at least 12 months of work experience in wich he/she covered one of the professional profile enlisted in the IO1, or at least in the specific work sector

Must have a language spoken level between A1 and B1 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)

No minimum time of residence in the host country is required

Beside this check for base requirements, it is important to assess the quality and quantity of work/academical experience reported by the candidate. What the operator wants to assess in this place is, in few words, if there is enough material to work on, such to justify a skill evaluation path. In other terms, it is very important to evaluate, during this first meeting with the candidate and by a preliminar examination, if there are enough skills to be linked to a specific job profile. Moreover, this interview will also help the operator to start outlining a possible job profile to be assigned to the candidate (among all those in the IO1). During the whole duration of the interview, as a background activity, operators will evaluate the general language level of the candidate (spoken and understanding), in order to determine if he/she masters the host country language enough to carry on the certification path till the end.

Before starting the interview, tell the candidate how the process will work and its main steps. Make he/she aware of the fact that the meeting will serve the purpose of assessing if the candidate collected enough/proper work/school/general fields of activity experiences that allow the operator to put the skill evaluation path on onset. Inform the candidate that, at the end of the interview, the service will decide the kind of action to be taken as follows:

Positive interview outcome = the skill evaluation path begins

Negative interview outcome = the process is interrupted and the candidate is sent to a professional counsellor to define a new individual action plan, maybe preparatory for a future certification attempt.

The interview questions are grouped in 5 areas, one for each significant field of activity of candidate’s life. Collect basic personal data (name, address, etc) right before starting and fill the personal data sheet as the interview continues.

IMPORTANT: Operator do not have to stick tightly to the questions enlisted below since they are more likely a hint to conduct the meeting. A lot depends also on how the interview proceeds. Plus, is up to the operator to calibrate the linguistic level according to the interlocutor.
