This is an interactive language learning program where you play Steve, who is a master student in archeology travelling to Germany to learn more of the German language and about the history of Romans in the region. He will finally visit the museum and ancient battlefield of Kalkriese in North-West Germany, where in 9 AD Germanic tribal warriors led by the Cheruscan Arminius defeated three Roman legions. This defeat was devastating for the antique super power.
In the course you will learn at the same time enough German language and culture to cope with all tasks at the game - and to be fit for a real trip to Germany, Austria or other German speaking regions. Try to learn and remember as much as possible. You never know where, when, or in front of whom you need the knowledge.

He wants to learn more about the history of Romans in Germany and at the same time improve his German language skills which he think will be crucial for his future career.
Steve is 27 years old and lives near Bristol with his girlfriend, who is Austrian; indeed, they first met during another study visit of Steve's in Austria - so this is just another reason for Steve to learn German.
